Olympus XA Camera and A16 Flash – Used – Excellent

Sold Out

This was the first—and arguably the best—of the XA series of ultra-compact cameras introduced by Olympus in 1979. The Olympus XA has the superb F-Zuiko 1:2.8, 35mm lens (six elements in five groups, like the Leica Summicron), with a rangefinder for accurate focusing, aperture-priority automatic exposure, 1.5-stop exposure compensation for back-lit subjects and beach and snow scenes, and a self-timer, all in a robust, clam-shell package not much bigger than a deck of cards. (The later XA1, 2, 3, and 4 models have slower and simpler, four or five-element, 1:3.5 lenses, fully automatic exposure, and scale-focusing). Ken Rockwell calls the XA “a masterpiece of optical and industrial design.” The XA came with one of two dedicated flashes—the compact A11 and the more powerful A16—which screw onto the side of the camera when needed. The camera for sale here comes with the A16 flash. Tested and fully working. The presentation box has a “musty” odor otherwise no issues.
