The Nikon SP is Nikon’s legendary professional 35mm rangefinder, first introduced in 1957 as a direct competitor to the Leica M3. With its bright 1:1 finder, selectable framelines (28, 35, 50, 85, 105, and 135mm), and rugged all-metal construction, it quickly became the tool of choice for working photojournalists.

This early production example (Serial No. 6218426) is paired with the fast and iconic Nikkor-S 5cm f/1.4 lens (Serial No. 398391) — a sharp and beautifully rendering 7-element classic.

In September 2025, the camera received a complete professional overhaul by Service Camera Pro in Quebec City. Unlike a basic CLA, this full overhaul restored all shutter speeds, rangefinder alignment, transport, and mechanical systems to proper factory specification. The lens was also serviced, ensuring smooth focus and clear glass.
