Film News

We are now carrying Fujifilm film, both their consumer colour film in 200 and 400 ISO, and some Fujifilm pro films. The pro films are going fast and we could only get a limited number of rolls. This is fresh film with good expiry dates. Get them while you can. We have a good supply of their consumer films as well.

We are now carrying film from Captureel, a new kid on the block who is re-spooling Kodak Vision III films in rolls of 36. We are pleased to Introduce Captureel colour film to the film photography community. These films are designed for specific roles in the filming and editing process. Kodak's color motion picture films capture a very unique mood - wildly different from each other and most other traditional still films. While you may be familiar with 500T, 250D, 200T, and 50D from other re-spoolers, there are several more experimental films available from Captureel that you won’t find elsewhere. Over the coming weeks we will be posting a review of each of these films. Check out our introductory bundle – all 7 rolls of Captureel film and an ECN-2 development kit, at a discounted price.

A few Captureel extra features.
- Easy twist opening in dark room. No bottle openers or sharp edges to scratch emulsions (or hands). Nobody likes blood on their negatives..... Bulk loading enthusiasts will like the reusability of these cartridges. Note: Not all Captureel cartridges are easy twist.

- The film name on the label is aligned with Nikon camera film windows for a visual reminder.
- Courtesy reminder for Remjet films to ensure labs and home processors are aware that Remjet is present and needs to be removed.

Captureel film development process.
These films are designed for the ECN-2 development process. There are some commercial labs providing this service or development can be done manually using an ECN-2 chemical kit available here.
Four of the films (500T, 250D, 200T and 50D) contain a REMJET layer that must be removed prior to development using an ECN-2 PREBATH, available here.
A REMJET layer is a removable, jet-black, carbon-based layer on the back of motion picture film, serving as an anti-halation, anti-static, lubrication, and scratch protection layer, and must be removed before standard film processing. These films can be cross-processed with C41 once any REMJET layer has been removed. C41-processing kits are available here.
Film Development
Camera Trading Company now offers film development in partnership with a local lab. Black and White and C-41 colour processing is available for film sizes 120,127 and 35mm. Turnaround time is 7 to 10 days.
We are currently unable to do slide film (E-6) processing, however we are looking for a partner to do work with for E-6 processing.
Darkroom Chemistry
We now have Flic Films ECN-2 kit for 8 rolls available, as well as their ECO-C-41 Kits. We continue to stock Ilford darkroom chemistry, and will be getting more in soon.
Of special note we now have Zone Imaging 510 Pyro in stock with dispensers, and Zone Imaging Eco Zonefix odourless Alkaline Rapid Fixer for Black and White film & paper as well.
35mm Cameras
We now have 5 brand name 35mm cameras on the site for less than $200.00. These are early autofocus cameras from Nikon and Canon. They have great lenses, are fully functional and come with our 90 day warranty. This is a great way to start off in film photography.
We have more cameras coming. We have a large backlog of cameras that we are processing to get on the website.
Keep an eye on the site to see what’s new.
